Roche Adding Jobs in Indy 6.13.11

INDIANAPOLIS -- Mayor Greg Ballard joined executives from Roche today to announce that the Roche Diagnostics site in Indianapolis has been selected to host its new North America Human Resources Shared Services Center. The center will provide HR services for all of Roche's North American diagnostics and pharmaceutical operations - including Genentech, a wholly owned member of the Roche Group - representing in total about 23,000 employees.
"After considering multiple locations, Roche made the strategic choice to locate their new shared services center in Indianapolis in part because of our quality workforce and low cost of doing business," said Mayor Greg Ballard. "Their investment and commitment to create new jobs here proves that major international companies recognize the value of doing business in Indianapolis."
To help support the new organization, Roche expects to add up to 50 new employees to its Indianapolis campus. Previously, the site only provided HR services to the approximately 4200 employees in the U.S. diagnostics division who report into Indianapolis.
"This news represents a significant investment by Roche in the Indianapolis site, and it's the result of an evolution that started here several years ago," said Tom Adkins, senior vice president and head of Roche Diagnostics Operations in Indianapolis. "We've been simplifying our processes and standardizing them with other Roche facilities, so now we can offer high-quality HR services to all of Roche's North American employees in a timely, efficient way."
The new center will provide a wide range of HR services, such as payroll and benefits administration, and will support two North America employee call centers, one in San Francisco for Roche's pharmaceutical division and one in Indianapolis for diagnostics. It will also provide support to some Roche operations in Iceland and Singapore.
