Ballard plans annual bike ride event on city's Northwestside 5.4.11

Mayor Greg Ballard will host his annual bike ride on the Northwestside of Indianapolis this June.
The public is invited to participate in the free ride, which will begin at 9 a.m. June 4 at Fishback Creek Public Academy, 8301 W. 86th St. This is the mayor’s third annual bike ride.
Last year’s ride on the Northeastside drew more than 600 participants.
This year’s annual ride will take bikers south from the Pike Township school on the new bike lanes on Lafayette Road to Eagle Creek Park. Cyclists can choose from a 6-mile or 8.59-mile loop.
Riders must wear helmets, and families are welcome. The event also includes snacks and giveaways.
