Newer meters to offer 4 hours on Saturdays 5.20.11
INDIANAPOLIS STAR
Motorists will now be able to purchase blocks of up to four hours at a time at newly upgraded Indianapolis parking meters and pay boxes on Saturdays.
Mayor Greg Ballard had asked ParkIndy to extend the time limits permanently from two hours after a successful test during the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon, his office said in a news release.
The extended hours will go into effect Saturday at all upgraded meters that accept credit cards as well as coins.
Some parts of Downtown still have older parking meters that accept only coins; free parking will be allowed there on weekends until they are upgraded.
