A group of seventh-graders spent 13 weeks working to help homeless pets as part of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Gang Resistance Education and Training program, otherwise known as GREAT.
The students from Broad Ripple Magnet High School worked on a community service project to collect food and supplies for the pet food pantry at Indianapolis Animal Care and Control, said Adam Garrett, shelter spokesman.
After collecting donations from classmates, school staff and faculty and family members, students delivered the goods to the food pantry Saturday.
The food pantry helps Marion County residents with low incomes feed their pets.
