Magazine: Indy metro area ranks 9th in U.S. projects

Indianapolis ranked ninth among large metropolitan areas for total economic development projects in a survey released this week by Site Selection magazine.

The annual survey tallies new and expanded corporate facilities. It reports 79 completed projects in the Indianapolis area in 2010, according to a news release from the office of Mayor Greg Ballard.

The Norcross, Ga.-based magazine listed the Chicago-Naperville-Joliet area as No. 1 among metro areas with populations of more than 1 million.

In the magazine report, Anderson, Ind., tied for eighth with Jackson, Mich., among metro areas with populations between 50,000 and 200,000. (Star report)
