Indianapolis - A new plan announced by an Indianapolis marketing company means hundreds of new jobs for the state in the coming years.

ExactTarget has grown to nearly 750 employees in nearly 10 years and it's about to get bigger.

"We will be adding 500 new jobs over the next five years across all disciplines. All functional areas within our business. Sales, professional service, marketing, engineering, software development," said ExactTarget CEO Scott Dorsey.

The email and interactive marketing provider just experienced its 39th consecutive quarter of revenue growth, an impressive string, considering it occurred during an economic downturn. The growth has allowed the company to expand to San Francisco, Seattle, London and into Australia to service companies like Expedia, CareerBuilder, Microsoft and Groupon.

"Scott, it's not a secret, will go with me to Asia in a week-and-a-half in pursuit of new jobs and pursuit of new growth for this company," said Governor Mitch Daniels.

The plan is to have the new jobs online by 2015. ExactTarget will also be spending $45 million over the next five years in its technology and infrastructure in downtown Indianapolis.

"Being the headquarters [are] here in Indianapolis, getting the name 'ExactTarget' out is important, because it positions Indianapolis as a more global city," said Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard.

"We are not only thrilled about the number of jobs, but the quality of those jobs. The high rates of pay that tend to go with them," said Daniels.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation has offered ExactTarget $11 million in performance-based tax credits and $225,000 in training grants for the expansion.
